In the Bazadais region, pigeon hunting is a time-honoured art practised every year from 15 September to 15 November, the period when the beautiful blue bird migrates through the region.
For a number of years now, a special event has been dedicated to this sport, staged by the “Confrérie des Paloumayres de Bazats”, the guardians of the traditions in this field.
A hunting display is re-enacted on the site of the “Confrérie des Paloumayres de Bazats”.
A hunt is re-enacted in the magnificent Cathedral Square. The trees, the hut, the vegetation, the ground: it’s all there! Half a day dedicated to the world of pigeons, perhaps better known outside Aquitaine as wood pigeons.

11.00am: Blessing and release of goshawks on the Cathedral square
11:30am: Enthronements in the town hall hall
12:00 pm – Aperitif hosted by the town hall.
13:30 – Gala dinner in the multi-purpose hall (open to all, booking required).
